This week in 3rd grade: Reading and Writing: This week in reading we finished up understanding elements of plot and we looked at ways that writers will make their stories more interesting to read. We read books about kindness and connecting across generations of family. We've learned that many families spend their time in the kitchen making memories.
In writing, we are working on writing a persuasive essay for Santa to read. We are doing this in the form of a letter. The children have been asked to persuade Santa to bring them 3 specific things this year for Christmas. They must include an introduction, a body with specific details, and a conclusion. I will be sending these home for you to read before the holiday!
Math: We are still working on measurement including telling time, the metric and customary system, and using a pan balance to measure mass. We learned 2 new workplaces and worked on solving word problems that include measurement.
Science: Mrs. Justen is teaching Mrs. Keifer's class all about ENERGY! We are visiting Mrs. Edelbrock's class for science.
