This week in 3rd grade: **THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND DONATING ALL THE PENCILS. It really meant so much to me to get help from so many of you. I appreciate all you do!
PLEASE see the HOMEWORK TAB at top of page to find Polar Day activities. In the event that we should have another day off, these activities can be completed and returned to Mrs. Justen the next day we are in school. Thanks!
Reading and Writing: This week, we took a look at the writing of Diana Hutts Aston and next week we will be looking at the illustrations of Jerry Pinkney. He does his illustrations in watercolor and it really adds a mood/tone to the stories we will read. We are finishing up making inferences using poetry. We also did a President's Day WebQuest activity where the students looked for answer on the internet with guidance from me. On Monday, we will begin looking at the author's point of view in stories.
In writing, we have started a new unit on informational writing. So far, we have discussed what informational writing looks like and how to find the introduction, body, and conclusion of an informational piece of writing. This week, we will take a look at determining facts vs. details and how to write those into our own informational writing. Next week, we will continue to work on organizing our facts using graphic organizers.
Math: We are continuing to work with shapes and their attributes in Unit 6.
Science: My homeroom class will be staying with me for the next 16 days for our energy unit. Next week, we will wrap up our unit and we will continue to a new class.
