This week in guided reading, we have started reading about a young adult that shares a talent with a group of kindergarteners. However, he gets bullied and has a situation with another classmate. We learned that jealousy can sometimes lead us to bad decisions, but that doing the right thing is often better than being "cool". In writing, we are continuing to work on our essays. Many of the students would like Mrs. Justen to "fix" and "write" their essay. I am having them give it their best effort after lessons I have taught and then we will work on our editing later. We are still learning the rules of when and how to use commas in sentences.
Math: We are working on subtraction of 3 digit numbers and finding the best strategy we can use to solve problems.
Social Studies: We are working on learning about our community. This has included effects we have on the community and learning all about timelines. We are even learning about famous people that have impacted our world. We will soon be switching classes to start a new unit with another 3rd grade teacher.
